Monaco Streaming Film Festival
Built at the Grimaldi Forum
When the first edition opened in July 2021, streaming was still finding its place beside cinema. Monaco gave it a stage of its own: a festival built around the way the world watches today, with a conference, a market and a gala in one. Live in Monaco, streamed to the world.
The first edition
- A festival and summit, streamed live to the world
- Cofounded with Mitch Lowe, founding vice president of Netflix, as announced in Deadline
- Steve Wozniak, cofounder of Apple, announced as keynote speaker
- Reg Grundy Innovation Award presented to Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian
The second edition
- Reg Grundy Innovation Award presented to James Cameron
- Premiere of Blackbird, with Michael Flatley on stage

Market Place
Buy · Sell · Connect
A place to do business, where producers, platforms, distributors and financiers meet to buy, sell and coproduce.
Voices on our stage
Actors, producers, lawyers and the people building the platforms, in conversation with each other and with the audience.
Film has always belonged here
Before she became Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly was one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Film is part of this country’s own story.
The red and white of the festival’s logo are the colours of Monaco’s flag. The Princess Grace Foundation was a partner of the festival.
Next door to Cannes
Thirty minutes from Nice airport and less than an hour from Cannes. Both editions took place in festival season, while the film world was already on this coast.
Tradition and innovation
Monaco is one of the most forward looking places in the world, with a long tradition of welcoming culture, business and people at a scale where real conversations happen.
A forum on the sea
The Grimaldi Forum, a glass building on the Mediterranean, has been the festival’s home for both editions.
The night Monaco honoured the screen
The Streaming Gala Awards celebrate the people and productions moving entertainment forward, and end with an awards dinner in Monte Carlo for more than 250 guests.
Creator of Disney’s The Mandalorian
Director of Avatar
Michael Flatley presented his film on the festival stage, in conversation with the audience at the Grimaldi Forum.

Round-table conversations
Relaxed round-table talks on the questions that shape the streaming industry: distribution, financing, music, social media and impact. Filmed on stage in Monaco, they form a library of conversations that continues to grow between editions.

Sponsorship partners played a key role in the festival, and the festival gave them a global industry and consumer reach. From private banking to Hollywood’s trade press, five worlds stood behind it.

The future of film. Made human.
The festival arrived as streaming changed how the world watches. The next change is already here, and it raises questions that belong to the film world itself: who creates, who consents, who is credited and who is paid.
Streaming finds its stage
Two editions in Monaco gave streaming a festival of its own, with premieres, a market and a gala, and early conversations on connected TV, free channels and global distribution.
A new chapter for film
Streaming has become the way most of the world watches, and the conversation has moved on. AI now touches every stage of filmmaking, and producers are looking for new ways to finance and share their work.
A table of its own
Monaco can give the film world a neutral, respected place to meet the future on its own terms, with filmmakers leading the conversation and technology joining it.
A stage where film sets its own terms
Most AI film events today are organised by technology companies. With its name, its network and its home in Monaco, the festival is well placed to offer the film world a table of its own.
- The Monaco Table: a private summit where filmmakers, actors and studios agree on consent, credit and rights
- The Made Human Award: for filmmakers who use new tools with imagination and respect for the craft
- All year: masterclasses and conversations streamed between editions, building on the library that already exists
